In response to national financial needs and based on the huge amount of taxation data from the Financial Information Agency (FIA), Ministry of Finance, the FIA has launched personal cloud tax account services and comprehensive national income tax sample data to enhance the use of tax data and promote the quality of national governance.
The “Individual Cloud Tax Account” query service is built on the tax portal of the Ministry of Finance (website: https://etax.nat.gov.tw) to facilitate the public to obtain their own tax payment, tax refund records and tax arrears. The service provides people with integrated tax information, and inquiry tax items include individual income tax, house and land transactions income tax, house tax, land value tax, vehicle license tax, land value increment tax, deed tax, stamp tax and amusement tax. Taxpayers may query tax items and tax information categories according to their needs.
Through this service, people only need to apply once, after which they may conveniently access their tax payment or tax arrears information within the past 5 years, easily grasp their own tax payment situation, and facilitate the use of financial planning.
The “Financial and Taxation Sampling Database” has been set up to expand the overall value of fiscal data and optimize the quality of financial decision-making. The FIA is gradually building the financial and taxation sampling database starting with information from the Individual Income Tax, which contains 11 de-identifying data sets, including assessment data, income data, and property data. The sampling database of Profit-seeking Enterprise Income Tax, Business Tax and Electronic Uniform Invoices will be established in the following years.
The current qualification of applicants to use the financial and taxation sampling database is based on research demands from the government, academia, and research institutes. In principle, the research must be public policy studies related to fiscal affairs such as the improvement of national fiscal policy, the establishment of reasonable tax systems, and the maintenance of fair taxation or other social welfare. Upon approval, the applicant may access the database at the “Financial Information Research Center” on the 10th floor of the FIA and is charged the application fee for datasets and the monitoring room usage fee according to the user charge principle. The various operations and fees have been placed on the FIA website (https://www.fia.gov.tw), which will also post related announcements. The public is welcome to browse and use it over the website.
The above two services are specially used value-added services specially created by the FIA, Ministry of Finance for the general public, government agencies and research institutions, hoping to meet the expectations and needs of the public, and more are welcome to use.
